1972 Honda CL175, raced for the last three years in WMRRA under number plates 923 (2008), 823 (2009, 2010) and 250 (2011). Extensively upgraded for race use:

  • Engine rebuilt (2009) with .50 over pistons (NOS Honda pistons, rings and wrist-pins, cylinders bored by Autosport Seattle)
  • Bottom end cleaned and inspected -- in great shape
  • Rebuilt head with NOS valves and Les Barker race springs
  • Custom-modified adjustable camshaft (degreed to 105°)
  • Pertronix ignition
  • Accel coil
  • Les Barker race clutch springs
  • CB200 front forks
  • Metal Frictions re-lined front brake (very effective!)
  • Keihin PE24 carburetors on custom runners, with Uni pod filters
  • Dyno tuned timing and jetting (click for dyno charts)
  • Hagon rear shocks (new 2009)
  • Custom rearsets with CBR600 linkage (street pattern) shifter and low-profile rear brake lever
  • Race-compound Bridgestone BT39ss 2.50-18 tires in decent shape
  • Glass From The Past belly pan
  • Swingarm spools
  • Custom-made rear stand
  • POR-15 coated gas tank
  • Kickstarter and electric starter removed
  • 17-38 gearing
  • Fully safety-wired
  • Very reliable -- never DNF'd, no mechanical problems (I've gained numerous finishing places because others dropped out with mechanical problems while this bike kept running)
  • Includes clear title
  • I'm almost certainly forgetting other mods and upgrades

Also includes some spares, including:

  • Handlebar
  • Levers
  • Throttle grip
  • Cables
  • 40 tooth rear sprocket
  • Numerous street parts

Note that despite what the pictures show, it does not come with the transponder for this price. The wired-power AMB transponder (in perfect condition) is $200 extra with the bike, or $300 separately.

Asking $1500 without the transponder, $1700 with The bike is sold. This bike is ready to race right now -- legally and successfully raced in the April 3rd, 2011 WMRRA race. Load it off your truck and it's ready to go. It's the perfect bike to get into racing, or an amazingly fun back-to-basics bike! It's a steal at $1500, with hundreds of hours and many hundreds of dollars invested. You can't build a bike this good for anywhere near this cheap.

The only reason I'm selling is that I realized racing is not for me.

Contact me via email to ian *at* dangerpants *dot* com. This bike is NOT street legal, and no test rides will be offered for that reason.

Bike is located in Seattle, WA.
